A Dutch silver tobacco-box Mark of Cornelis Koppenol Leiden, 1783, also struck with later Dutch duty mark of 1807 Rectangular with curved corners, the hinged cover engraved with a scene of two ships in battle and the inscription Vivat Zoutman , between the coats-of-arms of Amsterdam and The Admiralty and with the following names on banners: Dekker, Dedel, Starring, van Braam, Mulder, Bentink, Braak and Kinsberge , the base with scrolls and flowers flanking a satirical rhyming couplet relating to the engagement between the British and Dutch Convoy Protection fleets at the Doggersbank on the 5th of August 1781, marked on interior base, cover and rim 14 cm.
