A FEDERAL CARVED MAHOGANY SHELF CLOCK dial signed david wood (1766-c.1850), newburyport, massachusetts, 1800-1815 The upswept pediment centering a carved pinwheel surmounted by a brass spire-and-ball finial flanked by reeded plinths surmounted by brass fame-and-urn finials above an astragal shaped cupboard door with reeded pilasters enclosing a conforming white-painted dial with Roman and Arabic chapter rings centering the painted inscription DAVID WOOD NEW---PORT over a molded mid-band above a conforming case with cupboard door centering a rectangular cupboard door with applied architectural elements of an arch with a keystone above two reeded pilasters the whole flanked by reeded pilasters above a cavetto-molded base, on ogee bracket feet, feet replaced 35½in. high, 12in. wide, 6in. deep
