A Fine Cased 16-Bore Flintlock Sporting Gun By Henry Nock Gun Maker to His Majesty, Ludgate Street, London, No. 3301 for 1799 With browned twist barrel and silver fore-sight, the breech section engraved with a loop terminating in a sunburst, and with a short flat at the top and on each side, case-hardened patent breech with gold line, oval gold-lined maker's stamp, gold-lined touch-hole, and stamped 'HN Patent' on the underside, finely engraved case-hardened tang, case-hardened serial numbered lock with moulded border, stepped tail, gold-lined oval maker's stamp, roller, blued steel-spring, and rainproof pan, the interior working parts with their original blued finish, finely figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip, finely engraved blued iron mounts decorated with dogs and birds, blued trigger-plate with large pineapple finial, silver fore-end cap, original brass-mounted ramrod with worm, and much original finish: in lined and fitted oak case with numerous accessories including two powder-flasks, the body of one covered with mottled leather in imitation of tortoiseshell, the lid with illustrated trade label for circa 1789, the exterior with flush-fitting carrying handle, the whole set in fine condition throughout, London proof marks 341/8in.
