CIRCA 1850-60
A FINE CONTINENTAL CASED PAIR OF PERCUSSION RIFLED TARGET PISTOLS BY F D.CLAUDIN B T E. À PARIS circa 1850-60 With blued octagonal sighted polygroove-rifled barrels inlaid with silver interlace over the rear, engraved case-hardened breeches numbered 1 & 2, the breech tangs en suite , engraved case-hardened locks, select-quality figured pale walnut half-stocks, the fore-ends carved with scrolling foliage, fluted butts, case-hardened steel mounts engraved en suite with the locks, and in little-used condition throughout, perhaps unfired, Liège proof: in original contour-fitted case veneered in figured mahogany and lined in green baize, the lid signed on the inside in gilt-stamped letters, vacant escutcheon, and retaining its original full complement of accessories also with little evidence of use. 15¾ i n (40cm) (2)
