Stamp: (Maker's mark for Charles B. Byron) STERLING 1565 MADE FOR TIFFANY & CO. Provenance Note: The present lot is a wonderful and complex example of the lacquered works produced for Tiffany during the first decade of the 20th century. Starting with the silver buckle manufactured by the Charles B. Byron company in New York, the lacquer work was performed in Japan by artisans skilled in this delicate technique. 25.70 dwts. The top layer of lacquer shows a minor contact on the right side between the area where the two tines lay. The outer edge of the buckle shows scattered minor losses to the lacquer that are not readily visible.
