A fine musical automaton carriage clock The four pillar clock movement with single spring and plain back plate, above separate two-air cylinder movement wound from the underside, with ten-part five-sectional tooth comb, plain brass bedplate and side running cam for automaton, the engraved and silvered dial with arabic numerals with a painted centre of a river landscape, partially abscured by applied veri-gold automaton of a seated lute player, strumming the instrument hourly with musical movement by rod linkage, behind bevelled glass sides in plain brass serpentine-edged case with top escapement window and fold-over handle, stamped on bottom of back plate Made In France , the movement circa 1850 - 6in. (15.2cm) high including handle, the cylinder 1 11/16in. (4.3cm)
