A George I gilt gesso side table, circa 1720, in the manner of James Moore 73.5cm high, 86cm wide, 54cm deep For a closely related example to gilt gesso table of the period see, Christie's, Four British Collections Including Important Furniture London, 5th June 2008, Lot 143 (£30,000). Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. Gilding has been sympathetically refreshed. Some rubbing, chips and losses to surface. Section of loss to surface at back of one leg with later gilt paint used to help disguise. Crack across the top of one leg (see images). Some old worm holes to corner blocks to underside of top. The central stretcher to the underside of the top has significantly more flaking to its surface than other elements of the underside, and also has filler applied over two screws securing it. It appears it has been re-secured in position at some point. Top appears to be original. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
