A George II walnut candle stand, mid-18th century, 71cm high, 34cm diameter Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. It appear that two of the screws securing the block to the underside of the top have poked through slightly and two small dark marks are visible to the top. Some old glued repairs to splits across the block to the underside of the top. A later screw has been used to secure one side of the block. Blu-tack has been placed in the peg join between the stem and top. As a result the top does not sit flush on the stem. Filler applied to old plugged hole at one side of the stem. One leg with peg repair to 'knee' with filler used to disguise. Another leg with peg repair in same area and glued split where the leg meets the stem. The other leg with old nail and glue repairs where the leg meets the stem and a peg/dowel repair to one side of the leg. Some later screws securing the metal bracing to the underside.
