A GEORGE III IRISH SILVER MEAT-DISH AND PIE-DISH THE MEAT DISH MARK OF RICHARD WILLIAMS DUBLIN, 1778, THE PIE-DISH DUBLIN, 1790, MAKER'S MARK INDISTINCT Each shaped oval and with a gadrooned rim, the meat-dish engraved with a coat-of-arms below a baron's coronet, the pie-dish engraved with the same coat-of-arms below a viscount's coronet, each later engraved with a crest within a garter and below an earl's coronet, each marked underneath, the meat-dish further engraved with a number and scratchweight 'N o 3 23"4', the pie-dish further engraved with a scratchweight '22oz 4dw t ' the meat-dish 13 in. (33 cm.) wide 44 oz. (1,364 gr.) The arms are those of Acheson, for Archibald, 2nd Viscount Gosford, later 1st Earl of Gosford (circa 1742-1807), who succeeded his father on the latter's death in 1790. (2)
