A GEORGE IV SHAPED-OBLONG INKSTAND, on four curved bracket feet and with moulded border, fitted with three square frames, two with detachable silver-mounted inkwells, the central frame with deachable taperstick with ring handle, detachable nozzle and conical extinguisher, engraved with initials and beneath the base with two inscriptions, one dated 1830, the other 1864, by Robert Garrard 1826 10¾in. (27.5cm.) wide (46ozs.) The earlier inscrition reads, 'The Gift of Lord Lilford on the day of his marriage with the Hon l e. Mary Elizabeth Fox to the Hon bl e. Caroline Fox. May 24th 1830'
