A GEORGE V SILVER FIVE-PIECE TEA SERVICE, A MATCHING HOT-WATER JUG AND A THREE-PIECE COFFEE SERVICE ON LARGE TRAY Maker's mark of Crichton Brothers, London, 1915-1916 Comprising hot-water kettle on stand (lacking lamp), teapot, two- handled covered sugar bowl, milk jug, and waste bowl, the hot-water jug with differing cover and writhen finial, the coffee set comprising a coffee pot, cream jug and open sugar basin, all swirling fluted, the first set inverted pear shaped with chased rocaille rim, the pots with part foliate scroll spout, the hinged partly raised cover topped by beaded bud finial, the kettle on stand supported on three floral applied multi-scroll supports on matted shell feet, with floral festoon aprons, the shoulder openwork with flowers, rocaille and bees-- height over fixed handle-- 13¼in. (33.6cm.) ; the three-piece set on stepped circular base, with baluster coffee pot, hinged molded domed cover with baluster finial-- 8¾in. (22.2cm.) high, gross weight 168oz. ; the oval tray on four elaborate foliate scroll bracket feet, with molded border, the rim quartered by foliate arabesque, the gadrooning divided by eight smaller foliate arabesques-- 29½in. (74.9cm.) long, 220oz., total gross weight of all pieces 388oz. (10)
