A Gilt-bronze Figure of A Standing Buddha Unified Silla Period (late 8th Century) Cast to show the frontal figure of the Buddha standing on a stepped lotus plinth, the left hand raised with open palm in the abhayamudra and the right hand lowered in the varadamudra , gestures of offering to the faithful in fulfillment of the vow and granting the absence of fear, the drapery of an outer robe arranged in u-shaped pleats around the torso and in two long u-shaped pleats articulating the thighs, a band across the open chest indicates an inner robe and a scarf gracing the shoulders and arms falls in pointed folds on either side of the figure; back of the figure recessed and unfinished 9½in. (24.3cm.) high
