A good Dutch burr elm and walnut marquetry inlaid quarter striking musical longcase clock with automaton, Reyn de Jong last quarter 18th Century 37.5-cm arched brass dial, engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals signed Reyn de Jong WestZaandam, foliate pierced blued hands and subsidiary seconds, apertures for date, day, month, moondate, tide and moonphase below in the polychrome painted scene of a family in front of their house listening to a group of musicians with automaton arms connected to the three train anchor movement with trip repeating rack Dutch quarter striking on two alternating bells, 18.5-cm cylinder musical mechanism playing one of seven airs with 22 hammers on 14 bells as listed on an engraved silvered plaque mounted in the burr elm and burr walnut veneered case, bell top surmounted by three flambeau finials, shaped cornice with foliate carving over pierced wood frets, canted trunk with long shaped door having similar carving and inlay of musical instruments, bombed base with further inlay raised on claw feet 290cm. high including finials.
