VARIOUS DATES AND MAKERS, MOSCOW, 19TH CENTURY
A GROUP OF EIGHT RUSSIAN SILVER OR SILVER-GILT THRONE SALTS VARIOUS DATES AND MAKERS, MOSCOW, 19TH CENTURY Comprising:- a throne salt mark of KW , St. Petersburg, 1870 probably acting as retailer and overstriking another set of probably Moscow marks, with partly-pierced back engraved with monogram below coronet, the seat /cover engraved with a coat of arms, timbered sides, gilt interior; also seven others including one with elaborately pierced back , Moscow, 1892, and bearing later Polish control marks, the "84" standard mark apparently partly defaced by the Poles; three more with Cyrillic inscriptions, Moscow, 1867, 1885 and 1887, the latter with birds flanking the back and engraved inside cover with a cockerel; and three others, Moscow, 1859, 1873 and 1889, one silver-gilt with elaborately pierced back and one engraved with cockerel inside cover and engraved with flowers to back First item 3 in. high (7.5 cm.) 17 oz. (527 gm.)
