A HONGMU ARMCHAIR 18TH-19TH CENTURY The back splat is carved with a bat suspending a chime above pairs of bats, and flanked by archaistic scroll-form back and side rails set with openwork, scroll-form spandrels above the rectangular seat and narrow waist. The whole is raised on beaded legs of square section set with openwork corner spandrels and joined by a foot rest in the front and beaded stretchers at the sides and back, all above shaped aprons. 39 1/8 in. (99.4 cm.) high, 23 ¼ in. (59.1 cm.) wide, 18 ¼ in. (46.4 cm.) deep
