A Japanese kinji ground rectangular cabinet and stand on four feet with geometric bronze mounts, inlaid in ivory, mother-of-pearl, horn and coral with two shaped panels of a bearded male and a female Immortal on the backs of cranes in flight above further panels of birds and insects among foliage, fitted with two sliding drawers and five further drawers with bronze handles modelled as baskets of fruit, the sides decorated with scattered roundels and Tokugawa mon, the stand decorated in togidashi, kirigane and nashiji with ho-o among foliage, and two hinged doors opening to reveal a fitted interior with further drawers decorated in togidashi with birds among wisteria and bamboo on a ironuri (some pieces of inlay missing and old damages) -- 64¼in. high.
