A KASHAN LUSTRE POTTERY JUG CENTRAL IRAN, EARLY 13TH CENTURY Rising from spreading foot through pronounced rounded shoulder to cylindrical neck, a simple loop handle with small knop linking the mouth and shoulder, the body painted in a rich lustre with a band of lobed motifs and a band of reserved stylised kufic inscription on a ground of tight scrolls separated by a register of reserved naskh inscription, the neck with four separate decorative bands including radiating lines, stylised birds and another naskh inscription, the inside of the mouth with a stylised kufic inscription, intact 7in. (18.8cm.) high
