A LACQUER ACCESSORY BOX ( TEBAKO ) meiji period (late 19th century) The large box rectangular with rounded corners lavishly decorated in gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi, okibirame, keuchi, uchikomi, kimpun and silver lacquer on a roiro ground densely applied with hirame and nashiji , on the cover is a villa pictured with elaborate detail and a garden with a flowing stream, rock, pines and flowering plums enclosed by a woven fence in the lower left, the sides show more of the stream, larger rocks ornamented with large pieces of okibirame and uchikomi , young pines, plum and an arched bridge; fitted on the interior with a shallow tray lacquered on the outside in roiro, hirame and nashiji and on the inside in nashiji matching the underside of the lid, the interior and the base of the box, the outer rims silver and the inner rims fundame 9 5/8 x 7 5/8 x 6 5/8in.
