A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE MAMLUK QUR'AN SIGNED SHAHIN AL-NURI AL-ANBABI, EGYPT OR SYRIA, DATED 13 DHU'L QA'DA AH 869/7 JULY 1465 AD Arabic manuscript on buff paper, 209ff. plus 2 fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of neat sepia naskh , gold and polychrome rosette verse markers, sura headings in black-outlined gold thuluth with alternating red and blue diacritics, hizb , nisf hizb and sajda marked in similar thuluth in the margins, occasional marginal notes in red naskh , opening bifolio with cobalt-blue and gold illumination surrounding 5ll. of text in clouds reserved against red-hatched ground decorated with clusters of three dots, final folio with similar illumination surrounding 9ll. of text, fly-leaves with later owner's notes, marginal repairs, in later Mamluk style morocco binding with flap decorated with central stamped medallion and borders Folio 16½ x 12 1/8in. (41.9 x 30.8cm.)
