A large collection of Russian painted wood handicraft, decorated in polychrome colours, gold and silver comprising various plates/dishes, bowls, lid jars, vases, spoons, ale bowl a.o. And four carved wood boxes and plate, the two embellished with filigree. Several items marked. 20th century. Plates/dishes Diam. 7.5–29.5. Tobacco jar H. 23. Diam. 11. Spoons L. 13.5–25 cm. (40) Provenance: The Danish seller's stepmother's parents, Arne Hammer and his Russian-born wife, Tatiana Konstantinova Hammer, née Martinson. Arne Hammer worked for the Great Northern Telegraph Company and travelled often to Russia in the 1920s. In Irkutsk, he met Tatiana, whom he married and moved to Denmark. Tatiana Hammer belonged to the Russian circles in Copenhagen.
Wear due to age and use, including a few marks and scratches. Ale bowl, ladles and dish affected by heat. One box is missing the handle. The lid of one of the carved wood boxes stuck.
