A LARGE COPPER-INLAID BRASS TRAY Possibly Iran, 12th century Of circular form, the flat rim connecting to the centre with an oblique crenelated cavetto, the centre with bands of concentric decoration including medallions containing birds, the stylised flower in the centre more deeply engraved, the next register of radiating petals in radiating copper inlay, surrounded by stylised Kufic inscription, the rim with cartouches of Kufic inscriptions, 54cm diameter, 3.5cm high. Provenance: Acquired in the UK art market in the 1970s.
