A late Victorian souvenir fourteen-stick softwood and paper fan, The Hôtel Metropole London [now the Corinthia Hotel, Northumberland Avenue], printed with a named-view monogram vignette, the ground printed in polychrome and gilt with heraldic royal lions and crowns, leafy scrolls, and flowers, white sticks and guards picked out in gilt, the design monogrammed BGV, 44cm wide, c. 1885; a Fin de Siècle lady's peacock feather circular fan, the plumage alternating either side, 24cm diam; a 19th century bird feather and bone fan, 35cm wide; a 1920s flapper's Eventail strap fan, marbled Bakelite-type palm fan, feline mount, 23cm long, c. 1920; others, various media, shapes and sizes, including ivorine, mother-of-pearl mounted, ebonised, lace and other textiles, mourning fans; etc., [collection]
