A LIFESIZE PLASTER STATUE OF ADMIRAL LORD NELSON 20TH CENTURY Portrayed standing in naval military uniform The figure approximately 180 cm high Catalogue Note: Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté, KB was a British naval officer, remembered for his bold military strategies and iconic victories over the French during the Napoleonic wars. He lost his sight in one eye during the Battle at Calvi, Corsica, and later his right arm in the battle of Santa Cruz, Tenerife. He died during the battle of Trafalgar in 1805, shortly after sending out his now famous signal: 'England expects that every man will do his duty' Condition Report: The plaster bears the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age. There are some surface marks including to the lower portion of the face, and areas of surface cracking and denting including to shoe buckle and sleeve. There are some minor surface chips and losses overall including to the corners of the plinth, the edge of the hat (largest circa 4-5cm in length), another possible loss to the tip of the sword where a small part of the interior hessian structure of the plaster is visible. Possible repair to tip of nose. The surface is quite textured overall, with a darker finish towards the base. Condition Report Disclaimer
