A lot of Tiffany & Co. sterling silver ''Lap Over Edge'' knives & forks Print The luncheon forks and knives circa 1902 - 1907 (each with maker's mark for directorship of Charles T. Cook), the dessert forks circa 1907 - 1947 (each with maker's mark for directorship of John C. Moore), each fork marked ''Tiffany & Co. Sterling Pat 1880'', each knife marked ''Tiffany & Co. / Makers / Sterling'', further marked ''Tiffany & Co. / New York'' to blades, an assembled set comprising: 11 hollow handled silver plate bladed luncheon knives (9.125''), each decorated to handle with distinct animal, fruit and aquatic motifs; 6 luncheon forks (7.125''), each distinctly decorated and titled to back of handle, one with ''fern'', one with ''mountain ash'', one with ''olives'', one with ''persimmons'', one with ''pomegranates'', and one with ''wild rose''; and five dessert forks (6.75''), each distinctly decorated and titled to back of handle, one with ''gooseberries'', one with ''mulberries'', one with ''plums'', one with ''strawberries'' and one with ''wild cherries'', the luncheon forks and knives monogrammed ''HGW / VH'', the dessert forks monogrammed ''RHL'', 22 pieces, weighable sterling 21.74 oz troy approximately, Provenance: Property of Minerva Hamilton Hoyt, South Pasadena, CA. Condition: Overall good condition. General rubbing, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. One knife with rubbed and now deficient mark to blade. Six forks with tines slightly bent. Knives with localized oxidation to silver plate blades and scattered areas of wear revealing base metal; some blades slightly bent. Extensive wheel polishing and scattered minor dents to knife handles. Monogrammed, as stated.
