A LOUIS XV CARVED OAK CONSOLE TABLE PROBABLY MADE FOR THE DUKES OF LORRAINE, THE DESIGN ATTRIBUTED TO GERMAIN BOFFRAND CIRCA 1725-30 The serpentine-fronted campan mélangé marble top above a pierced frieze-centred by a shell flanked by scrolls on a trelliswork ground, the sides similarly carved and centred by rocaille reserves, on scrolled legs headed by cartouches and carved with fruiting foliage, joined by a stretcher centred by a flowerhead and terminating in scrolled feet, originally gilt, scrolled edges to feet replaced 37½ in. (95.5 cm.) high; 103½ in. (263 cm.) wide; 29¾ in. (76 cm.) deep
