A LOUIS XVI ENAMELLED GOLD BONBONNIÈRE SET WITH A MINIATURE by Augustin-André Héguin (fl. 1785 - after 1812), marked, Paris, 1787, with the second charge and export discharge marks of Henry Clavel, struck with the post-1838 gold warranty mark for the French departments, the miniature by Thomas Seguin, signed and dated 1788 Circular box, the independent cover inset with a circular enamel plaque depicting Paris, Helen, Cupid and a female Attendant, the side and base panels enamelled to simulate Compigné panels, the four side panels with riverside scenes and the base with Paris abducting Helen flanked by a male attendant with two dogs, Cupid holding a bow and waiting close to the ship, all within reeded gold borders surrounded by white enamel bands, the frosted gold borders applied with trailing translucent green enamelled foliage, red beads, white and blue berries, the oval side pilasters similarly adorned with laurel wreathes 31/8 in. (79 mm.) diam.
