A MAGNIFICENT, FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE YELLOW-GROUND 'YANGCAI' VASE SEAL MARK AND PERIOD OF QIANLONG of elegant yuhuchun form, the swollen pear-shaped body rising gently to a waisted neck and flared mouth, the exterior intricately enamelled with an opulent design of large luxuriant flower heads, including stylised lotus, passiflora, anemone, lily, pomegranate, honeysuckle, iris, narcissus, rose, aster, peach blossom and morning glory, all delicately picked out in variegated tones of rose-pink, blue, green, yellow and white and reserved on a ground of brilliant lemon-yellow finely engraved in sgraffiato technique with a dense scroll of feathery arabesques, interrupted by a vivid blue-ground band at the shoulder, enamelled with lotus blossoms borne on meandering stems and similar engraved sgraffiato design, above a collar of pendent ruyi lappets vividly articulated in iron-red and bordered with brilliant gilding, below a double band enamelled in iron-red and gilt, the foot enamelled with a border of pendent lotus petal lappets picked out in blue and outlined in pink, below a broader band of upright pink-enamelled lappets, the gilt mouthrim overlooking a narrow border of stylised florettes on a rich red ground, the interior and base dressed with a pale turquoise, the base inscribed with an iron-red four-character seal mark within a square cartouche reserved in white 29.3 cm., 11 1/2 in.
