A MEISSEN GILT-METAL-MOUNTED SMALL HOT-CHOCOLATE-POT AND COVER CIRCA 1740, TRACES OF BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, PRESSNUMMER 28 Of cylindrical form with a rounded shoulder, painted by B.G. Hauer with a continuous scene of merchants at discussion by monuments on the banks of an estuary, above a gilt band and double iron-red line border, the shoulder and cover with Kakiemon flower-sprays, the green simulated branch spout with flower terminals, the similar socket fitted with a gilt-metal collar and turned wood handle, the domed cover with a hinged gilt-metal handle, the aperture with a hinged gilt-metal cover (pot with chipping to rim, restored chip to spout, minute scratches to scene, slight flaking to enamel of spout and handle) 4 9/16 in. (11.6 cm.) high (excluding mounts)
