A Morris & Co. settle, designed for Stanmore hall, the design attributed to George Jack, the rectangular button back and padded seat upholstered with "flower garden" fabric on six grained mahogany turned legs joined by moulded stretchers, upholstery distressed -- 76in. (194cm.) wide. Cf. The Studio, vol 1, page 221, illustrated Stanmore Hall was owned by William Knox D'Arcy who commissioned Morris & Co. to undertake the redecorating and furnishing of the hall, this is one of four designed for the vestibule. See Illustration
