THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY BOTH RETAILED BY LEONARD BOUDIN, ONE BY NICOLAS PETIT AND SEBASTIEN VIE, THE MARQUETRY PROBABLY SUPPLIED BY CHARLES TOPINO
A NEAR PAIR OF LATE LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED CROSSBANDED MARQUETRY TABLES A ECRIRE THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY BOTH RETAILED BY LEONARD BOUDIN, ONE BY NICOLAS PETIT AND SEBASTIEN VIE, THE MARQUETRY PROBABLY SUPPLIED BY CHARLES TOPINO Each with a pierced three-quarter-gallery inlaid with a central oval depicting flower-filled vases, the frieze decorated à quatre faces with Vitruvian scrolls and fitted with a gilt-tooled green leather-lined writing-slide and a side drawer, above a conformingly-decorated concave-fronted oval undertier, the hipped cabriole legs headed by C-scroll and cabochon -cast mounts with beaded decoration running to the foliate-cast sabots , one table stamped 'S. VIE', 'N. PETIT' and 'JME', the other with chalk inscription to reverse of lower shelf, reading '4274 (1?)' 29¼ in. (74.5 cm.) and 28¾ in. (73 cm.) high, respectively; each: 22¾ in. (58 cm.) wide; 14¾ in. (47.5 cm.) deep (2)
