A NEO-BABYLONIAN CORNELIAN CYLINDER SEAL CIRCA 900-600 B.C. With a bearded worshipper before a sacred tree, a star, crescent and sacred standards in the field, minor edge chips, 1 in. (2.4 cm.) high; an Old Babylonian haematite cylinder seal with a deity being approached by a king holding a mace and a suppliant goddess, a bull of the storm god Adad with fork of lightning on its back in the field, 15/16 in. (2.3 cm.) high; another, haematite, with a goddess being approached by a king and suppliant goddess, a crescent, fish and hedgehog in the field, 13/16 in. (2 cm.) high; another, haematite, with the sun-god, Shamash, brandishing his knife and his foot raised on a mountain, being approached by a worshipper and an attendant, a crescent, monkey and ball-staff in the field, 1 1/16 in. (2.7 cm.) high, all circa 1900-1600 B.C.; an Akkadian black serpentine cylinder seal showing a central altar with a smoking bowl flanked by the snake god and another male figure, both holding cups, a crescent and star in the field, 1 1/16 in. (2.6 cm.) high; a Sumerian black stone cylinder seal with a hero flanked by two reared-up human-headed bulls being attacked by two lions, another hero grasping one of the lion's tails, 1 in. (2.5 cm.) high; and another, black stone, with a hero protecting a human-headed bull and a bull, which a lion is attacking, and another hero in profile grasping the lion's tail, ¾ in. (2 cm.) high, both circa 2500-2400 B.C. (7)
