Well-engraved and reasonably accurate map based on the earlier model of Charlevoix. Focused on Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu with fine detail, the map locates Jedo and scores of other cities and villages, islands, lakes, mountains, etc. The large and attractive cartouche with Samurai and Geisha. The hand-coloring is well executed, later but not recent. Provenance: H. Lawrence Wilsey of Pebble Beach, California. Lot Amendments Condition: Light offset and soiling, a few ill-creases, faint toning along centerfold, tape stains in upper margins from earlier mounting, lower right corner chipped but outside of neat line; about very good.
