A Norwegian silver tankard Mark of Herman Eilersten (Holm), Drammen, circa 1670 Cylindrical and on three pomegranate feet and with scroll handle, double-pomegranate thumbpiece and hinged domed cover inset with gilt medallion, within a band of scrolling foliage and flowers, the obverse with the scene of Adam and Eve and reverse with the scene of the Crucifixion, engraved on the upper body with an inscription dated 1672, marked under base 6¾in. (17cm.) high 30oz. (955gr.) The inscription reads 'Gottfridt Esskelsen Anno 1672'.
