A PAIR OF BÖTTGER CHINOISERIE TEABOWLS AND SAUCERS CIRCA 1723-25, DREHER 'S TO THREE PIECES, FIRST SAUCER WITH DREHER 'S X Painted by J.G. Höroldt , the first teabowl with two Orientals feeding cherries to a bird, the second with three Orientals by a table, within flattened quatrefoil gilt cartouches with Böttger -lustre panels edged with gilt scrolls issuing red and pale-brown scrolls, the reverses painted by Stadler with insects and birds flanking flowering branches extending down from the rims, the interiors with Eisenrot stylised river landscapes with fishermen below gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk borders, the saucers with extensive landscapes, the first with two Orientals by a tree, one firing an arrow, a monkey dislodging fruit from the branches, the second saucer with two fishermen, one with a staff suspending three fish and a looped perch for a bird, within similar cartouches and borders, the undersides with concentric iron-red circles (minute wear to gilt rims, saucers with slight wear to cartouches and minute areas of wear, first saucer with minute chip to underside of rim and small restored chip nearby) (2)
