A pair of George III French Hepplewhite design mahogany elbow chairs, cartouche shaped backs with beaded borders, serpentine arms carved with lotus scrolls, stuffed over seat, cabriole legs, scroll feet, 92cm high, 63cm wide, the seat 50cm wide and 39cm deep, c.1780
Please see attached images. Smart shape, sturdy and comfortable chairs. One of the chair’s upholstery with frayed portions, and a few soiled spots; its pair’s upholstery generally good, though with some loose frogging revealing a portion of former but now dormant worming. The cresting rails possibly repaired. Some other repairs to the rails. A few knocks and bumps in places, with some occasional light losses. Nevertheless, a pair of handsome chairs.
