A PAIR OF GEORGE III MAHOGANY CHEVAL FIRE-SCREENS, each with a Regency silk-embroidered sliding panel, one depicting Minerva seated triumphantly on her throne, signed and dated M...J.B. 1810, the other depicting one of the Muses (?), a lyre and a laurel-wreath upon an altar, signed and dated M....J.B./1811, with theatrically-draped curtains beyond within a trailing foliate border on an ivory ground, the arched rectangular reeded frames with floral patera angles and husk trails to the sides, upon stop-fluted and beaded double C-scroll end supports, the screens now secured, the glazing, beading and stretcher later 22½in. (57cm.) wide; 46in. (117cm.) high; 17in. (43cm.) deep (2)
