A PAIR OF GERMAN SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK RIFLED OFFICER'S PISTOLS BY JOHANN CHRISTOPH KUCHENREUTER, REGENSBURG, CIRCA 1790 With octagonal sighted barrels each with shallow scratch rifling, silver inlaid signature and scrollwork, gold lined maker's stamp ( Der Neue Støckel 640) and retaining traces of original blued finish, gold lined touch holes, tangs respectively numbered '1' and '2', and each incorporating a three leaf rear-sight, signed locks each with safety-catch and white metal lined priming pan (one cock repaired, the other replaced), figured walnut full stocks each carved in high relief with a spray of flowering foliage behind the barrel tang, the butts each with chequered band and fitted with engraved iron-bound aperture for an attachable shoulder-stock (one cracked and repaired), shaped plain silver mounts, and silver capped ramrods, one with whale bone haft 15 ¾ in. (40 cm.) overall
