A PAIR OF MINTON EXHIBITION COBALT-BLUE GROUND VASES Date cypher for 1861, impressed uppercase marks, the form designed by Albert-Ernest-Carrier-Belleuse Each of shield shape, the waisted neck molded with spiraling flutes bordered by bands of key-pattern and undulating laced ribbon flanked by two gilt rocaille shell and bulrush-molded handles, the body finely painted with a continuous floral garland of tea roses and nastursiums, all supported by four addorsed alternating male and female putti seated above a stepped circular foot molded with oval medallions, on a square base enriched with gilt bands 31½ in.
