DATED TO THE 12TH YEAR OF DAOGUANG, CORRESPONDING TO 1833, AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
A PAIR OF UNUSUAL DATED DEDICATORY BRONZE HANGING CENSERS DATED TO THE 12TH YEAR OF DAOGUANG, CORRESPONDING TO 1833, AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850) Each made in the shape of a hanging hexagonal basket, with key fret borders and an openwork upright rim of wan diaper rim surrounding a platform with central opening fitted with a cover with foliate cutouts on the sides and surmounted by a pomegranate and peach with openings for the release of smoke, flanked by two arched rings to which the angular arched handle is hooked, each with a dedicatory inscription, one inscription dated, 'made during the 12th year of Daoguang, in the first month of spring on an auspicous day' 15½ in.
