A period group photograph of Sheffield United players who have been capped for England football team in 1904, taken at the side of the cricket pavilion at Bramall Lane, the players all wearing England shirts and caps, Sheffield United remain the only club to have the distinction of fielding 10 England internationals at the same time, had the photograph been taken a few weeks earlier it would have been 11 before George Hedley left the club, mounted 9 1/2 by 11 1/2 b&w photograph As well as the ten England players, the group includes the Irish international Peter Boyle, club secretary John Nicholson and the trainers Jack Housely and George Waller. The full identification follows: Left to right: Back: Jack Housely (Trainer), W H Johnson, Harry Thickett, William Henry Foulkes, Peter Boyle (Ireland), John Nicholson (Secretary) & George Waller (Trainer); Front: Walter Bennett, Alf Common, Arthur Brown Fred Priest, Bert Lipsham, Tommy Morren & Bernard Wilkinson Housley was a well-known Sheffield football face who died following complications after would you believe slipping on a banana skin! Waller played for Wednesday in the 1890 FA Cup Final and was the trainer for four F.A. Cup winning teams and the League Championship side, as well as Yorkshire for Cricket.
