Circa 1680 The gilt-brass case with engraved and silvered frames to its glass side panels, the corners with silvered cast metamorphic mounts resting on lion feet, the hinged and silvered base plate with turn catch and set with hour and quarter bells secured with blued steel straps, the gilt-brass dial engraved with scene of a country house to the centre, with engraved and silvered Roman chapter ring with cross half hour markers and outer engraved gilt-brass Arabic minute ring with Roman quarter markers, the one day three train movement with hexagonal plates joined by six baluster pillars with threaded nuts to front and rear, with two fixed and engraved barrels for the strike trains and chain and fusee for the going train, verge and balance escapement with pierced and engraved balance cock to the back plate, signed Johan Eichstedt/Danzig , with engraved and gilt calibrated hour strike countwheel and engraved and silvered quarter strike disc, the latter with blued steel hand and set within a pierced and engraved foliate mount, the blued steel set up ratchet with blued steel spring and with also with pierced and engraved cock, with chiselled blued steel arbors for the hammers with zoomorphic and thistle heads See movement detail p.30 17.5 cm. wide With a purpose made 19th Century brass-mounted tulipwood and mother-of-pearl inlaid display stand, with pivoted domed cover
