A Rare Cased 62-Bore Breech-Loading Percussion Sporting Rifle By Williams and Powell, 25, South Castle Street, Liverpool, No. 357, circa 1845 With browned twist barrel cut with twenty grooves, partly enclosed within its octagonal then polygonal sleeve, the latter engraved 'Liverpool', sprung tip-up breech with four gold lines, released when barrel is revolved, long foliate engraved tang and signed back-action lock, figured walnut half-stock, chequered grip and fore-end, foliate engraved steel mounts, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and some original finish throughout: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including barrel-key, mould, spring clamp, and Hawksley flask, the lid with trade label 33in.
