A RARE CAUCASIAN DRAGON CARPET the shaded dark brown field with a central column of bold polychrome palmette medallions of a variety of forms issuing serrated and linked brick-red and sandy-yellow diagonal bands with floral vine enclosing panels containing stylised dragons or dragon and phoenix combat groups, in a most unusual shaded bottle-green border of ivory, brick-red and sandy-yellow shaped floral panels containing angular motifs divided by rosettes and rosette panels between marrow ivory linked panel and seed-pearl stripes, early 18th century (areas of repiling, especially of corroded black field) 14ft.7in. x 5ft.9in. (442cm. x 175cm.)
