A rare set of fourteen French façon de Venise miniature lattimo vases and sweetmeat glasses, late 17th or early 18th centuryAttributed to Bernard Perrot Orléans, the glass imitating porcelain, comprising five vases in two sizes, each of double ogee form, the raspberry prunt handles drawn up into points, set on circular feet, 8.5cm and 5.8cm high, together with nine sweetmeat glasses also in two sizes, each of slightly compressed cup-shaped form with asymmetric drawn handles, the bases moulded with gadroons, set on small circular feet, largest 7.5cm wide (14)FootnotesProvenance Professoressa Bianca Coen-Rollier Collection A related pair of lattimo glass miniature urns with similar prunted handles from the J Geyssant Collection attributed to Bernard Perrot (1640-1709), a glassmaker of Italian origin who was active in Orléans from 1662, is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, Bernard Perrot 1640-1709 (2010), p.134, no.60 where their purely decorative function is highlighted. A pair of similar lattimo vases was sold by Christie's as Venetian on 8 November 1999, lot 310.
