A REGENCE BRASS-INLAID AMARANTH AND EBONY BUREAU PLAT in the manner of André-Charles Boulle mounted with gilt-bronze, the concave-fronted red leather-lined top above a panelled frieze with one deep and two shallow shaped drawers to each side, the central drawer to the reverse simulated, the panelled ends centred by a vine-trailed female-mask with lambrequin head-dress, flanked by bearded satyr-mask angles cast with acanthus and entrelac, on shaped tapering cabriole legs with rockwork C-scroll and foliate-cast sabots and scroll feet, restorations, reshaped and remounted in the Régence period with the original parquetry borders concealed beneath the gilt-bronze frames, the shape of the top probably further altered in the 19th Century 57½in. (171.5cm.) wide; 32in. (81.5cm.) high; 35in.(89cm.) deep
