A RETICULATED SILVERED AND SOFT METAL KORO MEIJI PERIOD (LATE 19TH CENTURY) Cast in the form of a large drum resting on a tall, four-legged stand, the body of the drum which forms the censer cast in relief with large chrysanthemum blossoms and leaves and pierced at each side, the sides also applied with a silver 'cord' originally attached to the cover, now missing, the short sides of the drum studded with bosses and decorated on the flat ends with soft metal tomo-e medallions, confronted dragons and a ring of lappets, the stand worked with gilt foliate scroll against the silver ground, the vessel finished in silver with additional soft metal details, degraded overall by polishing- 9 3/4 in. (24.7 cm.) high
