PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1850, WITH THE RUSSIAN 56-ZOLOTNIKI (14-CARAT GOLD) MARK, MAKER'S MARK PARTLY RUBBED, THE FLANGE STRUCK WITH INVENTORY NUMBER 2324 cartouche-shaped box, with baluster sides, the cover, base and sides engraved with foliage and scrolls, the lid with scrolls parcel-enamelled in transluscent blue and opaque black, raised foilate thumbpiece, the interior cover inscribed in Russian, translated as 'Highly esteemed Medea Ivanova Mrs Filner in the memory of the visit of Nicolai Nicolaievich in Baku 1902 closest friends' 3½ in.
