A SELECTION OF ENGLISH TRANSFER-PRINTED EARTHENWARE PART SERVICES, THE FIRST BROWN PRINTED MARK OF GRINDLEY & CO., CIRCA 1880; THE SECOND BROWN PRINTED MARK OF WALLIS, GIMSON, 1902, the first a part dinner service in the 'Daffodil' pattern, printed in brown, comprising: six dinner plates, ten soup plates, five dessert plates, two saucers, a teacup, a vegetable dish and cover and stand, a sugar-bowl and cover, a waste-bowl, two rectangular dishes, three small square dishes, a sauceboat and stand, a large rectangular platter and a smaller rectangular serving dish; the second a part service in the 'Alexandria' pattern, printed in dark brown, comprising: eight dinner plates, twelve soup plates, eight dessert plates, five bread and butters, six square sweetmeat dishes, two smaller square dishes, a rectangular serving plate, a vegetable dish and cover, another vegetable dish, and an open dish; together with a Brownfield brown-printed footed compote, oval tureen and cover, a sauce tureen and cover, all with impressed marks; a Brownfield saucer printed in the 'Mayflower' pattern, printed mark; a 'Honfleur' pattern brown-printed dessert plate, with brown-printed mark; a Hill oval dish printed in iron red and black, black-printed mark; a rectangular blue printed platter The Grindley large platter 16in.
