A set of Six George II silver candlesticks and a pair of later silver-plated five light candelabra branches The candlesticks with mark of Thomas Gilpin London, 1758 Each on stepped square base and with octagonal baluster stem and spool-shaped socket, each with detachable square nozzle, with gadrooned borders, the bases and nozzles, each engraved with a crest, marked on bases, sockets and five nozzles, four numbered and engraved with scratchweights, two later filled , the later detachable silver-plated branches with leaf-capped scroll branches each terminating in a shaped square drip-pan and spool shaped socket with detachable shaped square nozzle, with similar central light 10¾in. (27.2cm.) high The four unfilled candlesticks 98oz. (3,062gr.) The crest is that of Cottrell (see lot 120) (6)
