A SET OF TWELVE GEORGE II SILVER SOUP-PLATES MARK OF PAUL CRESPIN LONDON, 1733 Each shaped circular and with a gadrooned rim, engraved with a coat-of-arms accolé with a lozenge-of-arms below a countess' coronet, and with a later coat-of arms below a duke's coronet, each marked on back, further engraved with a number and scratchweight 'No=1 19=8'; 'No=2 19=13'; 'No=3 20=8'; 'No=4 18=10'; 'No=5 19=8'; 'No=6 19=8'; 'No=7 19=14'; 'No=8 19=17'; 'No=9 19=9'; 'No=10 19=8'; 'No=11 19=14' and 'No=12 19=4' 9 5/8 in. (24.5 cm.) diam. 228 oz. (7,084 gr.) The arms are those of Conway quartering Seymour accolé with those of Bruce impaling those of Campbell quartering Lorne, for Field Marshall Henry Conway (1719-1795) and his wife Caroline (d.1803), daughter of John, 4th Duke of Argyll (d.1770) and widow of Charles, 4th Earl of Elgin and 3rd Earl of Ailesbury (1682-1747), whom he married in 1747. The later arms are those of Campbell quartering Lorne impaling Cunningham quartering Stewart for John, 7th Duke of Argyll (1777-1847) and his 3rd wife Anne (d.1874) daughter of John Cunningham of Craigends co. Renfrewshire, whom he married in 1831. (12)
